Muigai Njoroge

MUIGAI NJOROGE (KIGUTHA)
This Gospel musician is a millionaire by any standards. Unlike D’Matthew who lives in a rented house somewhere in Thika, Kigutha has built a mansion around Kasarani near Nairobi. Among his vehicles is a Toyota Prado KAX ……..He, without doubt, is the best selling gospel musician of all times. He is among the most successful and popular Kenyan musicians. (Others include the controversial Ken Wamaria of Yatta boys, the turbaned but suspicious looking Heze Ndung’u of the Kiroto fame, another Prado boy Peter Kigia and a host of others).

Kigutha is said to be a former Mungiki senior and a trace of this can be found in his deep Kikuyu language in his songs though he is in his early 30s.

He is rumoured to have a fling with his wife’s sister (seen in the latest VCD, special 8) causing a recent domestic quarrel. The wife is said to have ran away for some time until Pastor J.J. Gitahi-(another funny but rich character)-reconciled them. That is why Kigutha has a song on love and forgiveness in this latest album.

Unlike D’Matthew who is said to be conceited, Kigutha is a lovable guy. One Gospel musician recently confirmed to me that Kigutha has outwitted them by touching on almost all themes and struggling musicians cannot catch up. Even his contemporary, Elijah Milla couldn’t hence the enmity between the two.

Kigutha has a total of 9 volumes and over half of them are still doing very well in the market. The short musician has a wife who is growing beautiful by the day.

His album (Kurera), has topped in sales for the better part of October and can only be dethroned by D’Matthew’s Ka’ane which is expected in mid November according to the orders placed by the latter’s fans.
